Who we are

Fundamentally, the Fecta draws on its growing global interconnectedness to access different perspectives and better understand the problems relevant to its work. The Fecta is built on the belief that complex problems are better understood when examined simultaneously from several perspectives. Our members bring different professional and regional experience into a common network, giving us a broad base for analysis and for deciding where attention is best placed.

The Fecta’s operating segments are spread across the globe and function with a high degree of independence, while benefiting from the relationships and capabilities of the wider Fecta network. This structure allows individual segments to retain their own focus while drawing on expertise developed elsewhere in the organization.

As a result, the Fecta and its constituent entities are able to connect work that would otherwise remain separate. Research and published insights can inform infrastructure projects; interdisciplinary events can bring together people from different parts of our network; student associations can provide new perspectives and communities; and relationships developed by one segment can create opportunities for another. The same applies beyond the Fecta itself. Each segment develops its own relationship with institutions and partner organisations, while those relationships can become a resource for the wider network.

Our History

The Fecta was founded in Zurich by a small group of advisors who had spent their careers inside larger institutions and wanted to work differently. The early mandates were local and the team was small enough to fit around one table.

Work across the DACH region followed, and with it a broader remit. What began as a handful of engagements became a practice with a defined point of view, and the membership grew to match it.

An editorial practice was established alongside the advisory work, on the conviction that research worth doing is research worth publishing. Today the firm covers twelve sectors with a permanent membership across four countries, and the way we work has not changed a great deal since that first table.
